Postdoctoral Researcher, NordRAI
Department of Information Technology, Uppsala University
I'm a postdoctoral researcher at NordRAI, part of the Department of Information Technology at Uppsala University. I study how people in computing and higher education understand their professional roles, and how those roles are changing as generative AI enters teaching and learning.
My current project looks at how faculty in Nordic countries percive generative AI in their own work: what it means for their professional roles, responsibility, and agency. My doctoral research at Nord University examined how computing students develop professional identity through project-based learning. My work is interdisciplinary and draws on education, sociology, and computing mostly using qualitative methods such as thematic analysis and grounded theory.

Generative AI is changing how teaching and learning happen in higher education. Academic teachers
face new possibilities and challenges as GenAI affects curriculum design, pedagogical planning,
assessment, and professional development.
While a large body of research examines GenAI in higher education, we know little about how the
technology is used in collaborative settings, where faculty members work in teams. This project
addresses that gap, with particular attention to how teachers see their professional roles, how they
think about responsibility when AI tools are part of teaching and assessment, and what room they have
to act on their own judgement.
The project will develop a grounded theory of collaborative practice in faculty teams using GenAI.
Our findings will inform a refinement of Stahl's model of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL).
The empirical work is conducted in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, in collaboration with our partners Western Norway Research Institute, the University of Eastern Finland, and Aarhus University.
How educators adopt, question, and adapt to generative AI tools, and what responsible use looks like in practice.
How computing students come to see themselves as professionals through project-based learning, and which professional competencies computing curricula should develop.
Gender balance and inclusive learning environments in computing, through both research and outreach to schools and students.
